Pianist David
Pasbrig has received critical and audience acclaim throughout the
United States and Far East. Known for his “Impressive…range
of tonal qualities and technical finesse” (Schenectady
Gazette), Pasbrig is equally in demand as soloist, chamber musician
and pedagogue. He has been heard in Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel
Center, The Kennedy Center, The Seoul Performing Arts Center (Korea)
and The Academy of Music. Recent engagements include masterclasses
and concerts in Shenyang, Dalian, Panju and Beijing, China; concerts
with Ann Fontanella at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall; at
Verizon Hall of Kimmel Center; at the Scotia Festival in Halifax,
Nova Scotia; with the Luzerne Chamber Music Festival and with the
West Jersey Chamber Music Society. As a chamber musician he has
collaborated with artists including Sergiu Schwartz, David Arnold,
Laurie Heimes, members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and is a
founding member of the TRIPOD trio. He can be heard on Centaur and
New World Records.
As an early member of the New Jersey based Music For All Seasons, Mr. Pasbrig has performed in many unusual settings in an effort to bring music to those who may not be able to attend concerts in a traditional setting. This includes performances in diverse places such as children’s hospitals, prisons, retirement homes and senior centers. He has also performed locally in concerts to benefit humanitarian causes such as AIDS research.
In addition to being a pianist, Mr. Pasbrig is a recording engineer and producer, and has recorded for television, radio and CD. He has recorded for the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation in Germany, for composers Michael Kamen, Matthew Greenbaum and Maurice Wright, for Tempesta di Mare, The Philadelphia Chamber Ensemble, members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and many others.
Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Mr. Pasbrig has studied at The Peabody Conservatory, The Banff Centre For The Arts, and Temple University where he completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the direction of Harvey Wedeen. His teachers have included Marian Hahn, Seymour Lipkin, Charles Abramovic, Lambert Orkis and Harvey Wedeen. A dedicated teacher himself, Mr. Pasbrig is currently Associate Director of Keyboard Studies at Luzerne Music Center in Lake Luzerne, NY, the Associate Director of The Rivers School Summer Chamber Music Program in Boston, MA, and teaches at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. In addition, he has been selected to be on the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour roster for 2008.
